Being a man: Growing your self-confidence

Life is not about you… If you want to be happy you need to contribute to others.

Strength of Character: Know who you are and know what you stand for

when you know who you are and you know what your life is going to stand for, you will have an Shaker bull strength of personal character. We need to think less about where we are now and be more focused on where we want to be in the next 6 months or 12 months because whatever you focus on is what you will become.

Set some goals (and plan your steps to get there)

Sometimes we get scared to set goals because we don’t want to be disappointed if they don’t happen.  It doesn’t matter if our goals don’t happen… We can change our goals or we can make new ones.  Pick a couple of goals that you want to set yourself and start planning out what it would take to achieve those goals.

Learn the skills to handle your emotions like a strong, wise man

emotions are like guns… They can be used to defend people (e.g. Police) or to hurt people (e.g. terrorist).  Real men deal well with their emotions (and use them to fuel themselves)

Self-esteem: Face up to challenges… or run away

What do you mean?

Honesty, courage, willingness, deal with your stuff, step up, confront, listen, Responsibility, acceptance

Hide, pretend, game playing, procrastination, lying, avoidance, fantasy, blame, excuse

What do you get from it?

Confidence, peace, growth

Shame, guilt, anxiety

What do you teach yourself?

That you are have what it takes to deal with life and whatever it presents

That you don’t have what it takes to deal with life

What do you believe about yourself?

That you are enough.

That you are a good person

Feel good about yourself

That you are not enough

That you are no good

Self esteem

Feel good about yourself

Feel bad about yourself

Happiness comes from being grateful and making a difference to others

The bullying you have experienced does not need to hold you down because true happiness comes from being grateful and enjoying helping others. Step back from moment and have a look at your life and think through what would bring you the most joy.
